Scrap-tangle?

I am working on a couple of lesson plans. One is for a February scrapbooking venue. It will be late in February, so people will likely be scrapping winter themes, but with scrapbookers, well, we work on whatever our whimsy brings. So, one idea for a quick intro to Zentangle is a journaling block. Here are a couple I made last night.  I think the frosty one needs blue and silver glitter gel pens! ☺

Other ideas, which I will work on later, include a page border (Flux comes to mind), or maybe a 3d piece using scrapbook paper and Zentangle...  I will be asking my fellow CZTs for inspiration!

The second venue is a local winery. I want to do a class series there, if possible, starting with Zentangle 101.

Tangle ornaments

There are so many amazing actual ornaments done by CZTs this year and I look forward to making some but in the meanwhile,  these are some of my ornaments. They are going on cards as gifts. You can't really see it but I did use my silver glitter Gelly roll. I need a gold pen, although I know I have one somewhere. ..

Merry Christmas!

Tangle into Christmas!

Augh! I haven't posted a tangle for a long time!  The latest "rage" in the tangle world is GEMS! Awesome fun.

I am working on scheduling a holiday tangle class. Maybe gems will be included if I get it refined well enough.

Munchin on a Tuesday afternoon

This week's Diva Challenge  was to use Munchin  on a black tile as demonstrated recently by Molly Hollibaugh for Sakura on a YouTube  video. Well, like many others, black tiles are not my favorite but I do like working on them better than the Renaissance  tiles... although I love the look of the Renaissance tiles... I digress... so without further delay - here is my Munchin! With some Crescent Moon and Ahh! In the YouTube video, Molly referenced the stars or galaxy or something astrological and it stuck.

#236 Tangle Unexpected

I have not had/taken the time to complete the Diva's Challenge  for quite a while. When I read this week that the challenge was to tangle on something you wouldn't ordinarily  tangle on... well, that's all I have been doing! So here you go! Pumpkins, book pages, and I'll look about to see what else I have done recently!

Camp Heartwood

This is a ZIA I made to thank the volunteers  who helped at or supported Camp Heartwood VBS last week. I was going to do one for each  volunteer  but as I stated thinking about it, I think I will have a card printed and mail copies! I wouldn't get them sent until next year otherwise!

Pages of our life...

Yesterday was our 29th wedding anniversary. I didn't have a card or gift or anything so I made this little Zentangle up, entitling it "Pages". I think I might like to play with this on a bigger scale.  :-)

Life is a Circus!

Guest blogger, Lee Darter, brought the Diva Challenge this week inspired by the circus. The tangle "Cack" is new to me and needs a bit more practice. After I finished this challenge I sorta' wanted to see it in color! This weekend maybe I will do it over!

Oh, the second photo adds a little more shade and a little highlight.

Zentangle Class

A wonderful group of ladies invited me to share my love of Zentangle with them last night.  We had time to finish TWO tiles and here are the mosaics from the class.  I look forward to exploring more tangles with them in the future.  I certainly found a lot of inspiration in what was created!

The Art of Simplicity

Diva Laura is on vacation so the diva challenge was presented by guest blogger, Kate Crommett, this week. The challenge was to use no more than 3 tangles and to leave white space.

It is raining here this morning and I am sitting on the front porch with 2 of my dogs and a cup of coffee. This was my inspiration. I can't say that I love this tile but I can say that it felt good, tangled quickly and gave me inspiration for another tile, yet to come.

I hope your Monday morning has been as pleasant as mine!

Tipple, and Mooka!

Diva Challenge #224, Tipple! Tipple makes me smile and reminds me of our CZT seminar and Romi. She's a tippler! LOL! I wanted to keep working on the Lotus blossom, which reminds me of Dani. She's a flower of a person. :-) So, in my sketchbook a day journal, this is what I have. The lotus needs another set of flower petals... when I do a tile, now I know.

I was playing with Mooka  a couple of days ago.  I want to teach it but  I haven't played with it enough yet. Very fun though. :-)

Have a great week. Remember to love and respect those around you, even when you don't agree with them. We are all here on this earth together.

Diva Dancing in Color!

Playing with Diva Dance Rock and Roll roses in color... started out with a micron  08 which was really great on this text page but when I opened it up this morning, it had blown out. I wonder why? So, I finished with the pigma 05. I find Diva Dance to be one of the more meditative tangles.

Lavender Day

Today was Zentangle at Seven Oaks Lavender Farm. A small class but a great one. Teaching the Zentangle  method is so rewarding!

Here's the lavender mosaic from this week and from last week! I love them!

Color of Love

I finally did my interpretation of the Rainbow Diva Challenge #222. It represents the desire of my heart that all live together in harmony.

Umble - Diva Challenge #223

I haven't completed my color tangle challenge yet but I did Umble today. I did a very simple monotangle since Umble is new to me. I used a Renaissance tile, black and brown microns, no shading. That's it. ;-)

Tints on Tan Seaside Edition

My Tints on Tan Seaside Edition kit arrived yesterday while I was at work.  Tints on Tan was designed by Marty Deckel, CZT 10.

After dinner, I  started my first tile (this tile) and kept thinking that I would stop after this step,  but then I couldn't wait to see the next step! So, it was completed in bed! That's a nice benefit of Zentangle,  its portable!

I can't wait to do another more of my design and see where else this technique takes me. I love it!

Hydrangea

I was so inspired by my hydrangea that I wanted to play with the colors.  I imagine this page will be filled with blossoms by the end of the night! I am playing with the colors but also with the pencils themselves and what they can do.  I have a 24 set of Staedtler pencils and a 36 set of Derwent. I need to play with brushes too, but I'm to lazy to go upstairs to get them!

Beads of Courage

The Diva Challenge this week (challenge  #221)... if you have never heard of Beads of Courage (I hadn't), check out Divas blog and be totally humbled by the stories of children with chronic or life threatening illnesses. In Canada there is a   program that gives the children a  bead for procedures, etc. These beads are worn like a badge of courage.  My Zentangle is Mak-Rah-Mee with ring/beads. I guess it just represents that we are all connected.  I didn't do any shading at all... I wonder if I will go back and do that? Probably not. But I did use the glitter pen that Sakura gave us! (CZT 18)

All Boxed Up

Catching up on my Diva Challenges! Guest tangle from Alice Hendon, CZT9, challenge #220. I will definitely  be using this in class as it is fun to add the shading and have it morph. Thanks for sharing, Alice!

Lavender Farm Zen

I have had a really beautiful day at Seven Oaks Lavender Farm today.  I wasn't  sure I could teach a Zentangle FOUNDATION class using Verdigogh but the students did great with it.  I also had a time constraint.  So I did a crash course of Cresent Moon and Hollibaugh, then jumped to a new tile for Verdigogh and a tangle I made up for the project. Ellen doesn't know it but I think she's the first student I have taught that was a total stranger to me.  I believe in the power of creativity and felt we had known each other for ages! Thanks Ellen!

Another black tile study

Decided  to work on black again  this morning... third notable guideline (first 2 guidelines in previous  post) - work BIGGER! Here I used Onamato, Squid, and Pepper. Squid was too small to work with the white gel pen.

Might have to continue with this study this week. :-)

Diva Challenge #218

Black tile. Ugh. I was kinda like "I don't think I'll do this" but I read a couple of other posts and got great suggestions. Use a tangle you love.  Less is more.  I usually love Ricks Flux  but did Marias. And just a little tipple. That's about it! Oh, I do love using my
Zenstone! And, even though you can't see it on the photo, a little glittery gel pen. :-) Glitter makes it all good!

May the 4th Be With You

I'm a little slow this week. It's been a crazy week - a fun week, but busy. I always help out a friend for Mother's Day week at her flower shop, so in addition to Cows-n-Corn mornings, and Somerville Post Office/general store on Thursday, I worked  afternoons and Saturday at the flower shop. And today, after church, I worked at the lavender shop. I don't make much, but I do love the variety! Here's this week's diva challenge! I did a double tile in my sketch book.

Labyrinth Challenge #215

I LOVE labyrinths and I am definitely  going to want to do this challenge again. Maybe on my first Opus tile! Oooh yes! And frame it to use as a finger labyrinth! This one has some flaws, but that's okay. "To live a creative life, we must lose our fear of being wrong." -Joseph Chilton Pearce

"Practice" Class - Sunday, May 3

I will be holding a practice class on Sunday, May 3 at 3p. We will meet at Mt. Horeb UMC. The weather should be nice, so I plan to gather in the gazebo, but we have the option of meeting inside.

The focus for this class will be Christian. We will learn a few basics of Zentangle and then end with a meditative drawing.  Class will probably take 1-2 hours.

Since I view this as a practice for myself, there will be no charge to you. ;-)

RSVP is appreciated  but not required.

Brand New Blog!

I guess this is my way of formally recognizing that Zentangle is a big part of me! I still have my vamyers.blogspot for travel and home but this is where I will share Zentangle and other things crafty.

My story is still being written. I believe that to always be true of everyone. Using Zentangle as a form of meditation and expression can help that story become rich and full. Zentangle can be a journal, of a sort. At least, it is for me.  As you begin your practice, you may have a completely different story. Let's begin writing it together!
